Getting to Nepal and Visas

International Airlines operating from/to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport are Air China- Lhasa/Chengdu, Arkefly- Amsterdam , Etihat Airways- Abu Dhabi, Korean Air- Seoul, United Airways- Dhaka, Qatar Airways- Doha, Turkish Airlines- Istanbul, Indigo Airlines- Delhi, Druk Air – Paro/ Delhi, Gulf Air- Bahrain , Dragon Air- Hong Kong, This Airways- Bangkok, Fly Dubai- Dubai, Oman air- Muscat etc.
Various entry points are located at the boarders with India and China. Therefore, travellers can arrive in Nepal via road travel from those entry points like Central Nepal – Birgunj, Parsa, Northern Boarder- Kodari, Sindupalchok or Rasuwagadi, Mid Western- Jamuna, Nepalgunj and Eastern Nepal- Kakarvita, Jhapa.
Visa
Tourist visa is mandatory for entering in Nepal which is easily issued on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.On Arrival visa is procedure is very quick and simple, however some queues are expected during the peak season for tourism in Nepal. Only Indian citizens are exempt from the Visa requirement to enter into Nepal and same applies to Nepalese Citizens to enter into India.
For you convenience and to avoid waiting time for the visa to be issued at the airport in Nepal, you can apply for the Nepal Tourist Visa at Nepalese Diplomatic Missions stationed in your home country prior to arrival. You can apply for Tourist Visa for various length of stays as per your need, However entry to Nepal must take place within 6 months of issuing the visa. Your total stay is counted from the date you entered into Nepal. Visa is also mandatory for the children below 10 years but no fees are charged for such category.
Procedures you need follow to get on arrival visa at Tribhuvan International Airport:
1.Fill in Arrival Form
2.Fill in Online Tourist Visa Form
-You can fill the form prior to your arrival visiting official website of Department of Immigration Nepal. Upon the submission of the online form, you will be given submission receipt with the barcode which you can print and submit at the Airport Immigration to acquire Visa. The submission is only valid for 15 days and you will need to reapply again.

-You can also fill up the form at Tribhuvan International Airport at the arrival using Kiosk machine.
3.Make payment at the bank according to your visa requirement of 15/30/90 Days. Various mode of payments are accepted in the counter, However we recommend you to carry some cash to be on the safe side. Having US Dollar would be more convenient for the payment as the Visa fees are mentioned in USD.
Tourist Visa fees on Arrival
For 15 Days- USD 30 or equivalent currency
For 30 Days- USD 50 or equivalent currency
For 90 Days- USD 125 or equivalent currency
USD 45 is charged for visa extension of minimum of 15 days and USD 3 is charged per each additional days.
4. Proceed towards immigration desk with your online submission form, payment receipt and original passport and hand over to the immigration officer, who then issues you Tourist Visa.
Note:
Citizens of some Nationalities like Nigeria, Ghana, Somalia, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq, Ethiopia, Liberia , Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Swaziland are required to obtain visa prior to arrival in Nepal as On arrival Visa is not issued for these nationalities.
