Safety and security of our customers during the trekking tour and throughout the time in Nepal is our first priority. Nepal Convivial has been strongly implementing safety and security system in place through its own safety and security policies and procedures of outdoor expedition. Our teams are fully trained to carry out safety procedures to ensure protection of our customers from possible risks and hazards during the trekking tour.

Nepal Convivial regularly participates in Risk management for outdoor programs. Through our Learning, Engaging and Understanding practices of associated risks, we constantly develop customised strategy to achieve safety and security excellence of our company. Nepal is a spectacular destination for trekking, hiking and expeditions, However, we should always be aware of possible dangers of trekking in the mountains, such as landslides, accidents, sickness, theft etc.

Our staffs are capable of mitigating and handling most of the risks and contingencies, However, some are beyond the control of human beings and we have following recommendations for our customers:

  • Acquire travel and medical comprehensive insurance policy covering helicopter rescue cost in the event of emergency prior to your arrival in Nepal. Difficult situations like accidents due to landslides, falls, avalanches and high altitude sickness might occur and having proper insurance will safeguard you against huge financial damage.
  • Provide us with the copy of essential documents like passport, visa and other valuable documents to retain in our office in Kathmandu so that you can easily obtain replacement if lost or stolen during the trekking tour.
  • Always remain in touch and registered with your respective embassies so that we can instantly communicate and report in the emergency situations.
  • Nepal is a safe country to travel, However, rare cases of assaults and harassment were experienced due to political instability and lack of education in the remote areas. Therefore, we recommend you not to travel single, specially for a female traveller. Our teams will fully ensure that you are safe from such incidents.
  • Do not display valuable items like money and jewellery to the public during the trekking tour to avoid theft. Also never leave your luggage and backpack unattended at all the time and keep you belongings secure at your sight. Our teams do constantly monitor your belongings to provide security against theft.
  • During our arrangement for emergency evacuation, kindly provide cooperation with our company to perform quick rescue operation.
  • For the safety and security reason, we do not recommend you the travel at late evenings and nights.
  • During the trekking tour, our team will access upcoming risks and need to make certain decision to protect from serious consequences. Therefore, kindly co operate with them with their decision of changes in itinerary or direction and return back to safe place.
  • Follow to experienced guide’s general safety recommendations during the trekking tour as they are fully aware of each minor- major risk throughout the trails.

Vaccination Protection for Trek in Nepal

Currently after the Corona crisis, no vaccination is mandatory to enter in Nepal, However, we have following lists of applicable vaccinations to advisable:

  • Active Vaccination of Hepatitis A + B (Twinrix)
  • A vaccination or booster of Tetanus/polio/diphtheria
  • A vaccination for Malaria as there are risk of catching malaria in the rural districts of the Nepal. A malaria prophylaxis is not recommended.
  • A vaccination for Rabies if you are staying in rural areas of Nepal for longer period of time as there are large number of stray dogs and monkeys in Kathmandu, but they are not dangerous if you keep your distance and  not try to provoke them.
  • A vaccination for Japanese encephalitis you are planning for a longer stay in Nepal.

Basic Medicines for Recommendation

  • Medicine for gastrointestinal disorders like diarrhea, bloating, vomitting
  • Aspirin and broadband antibiotic
  • Plasters and elastic bandage
  • Medicine for colds
  • Wound disinfectant
  • Cream for sprains/bruises and eye drops
  • Medical products for treating itching caused by insect bites, and other personal medicine
  • Doctor advised medicine for high altitude sickness

Procedure for Emergency/Helicopter Rescue

Helicopter is instantly requested by our company in the event of emergency rescue to provide immediate response by professional medical team in Kathmandu.Upon our request, helicopter company immediately respond to the site with its helicopter as  the helicopter company has deposited our payment guarantee for any occurring expenses regarding the rescue. We have maintained strong relationship with various rescue teams and companies so that our customers are immediately in the safe hands in the even of emergency. The helicopter rescue cost is covered by insurance, which we we highly recommend you prior to travel in Nepal. Otherwise, travellers will need to bear all the expensive rescue expense. A helicopter use in the Everest region is approximately about US $ 6,000.

Travellers have choice to see foreign doctors in Kathmandu Nepal in the case of sickness and emergency. Foreign doctors are available in CIWEC Clinic, Lazimpat, Kathmandu, Nepal.
